What began with just a couple marines and a small Bible Study near the 29 Palms Marine Corps Air and Ground Combat Center back in the fall of 2008, has grown to become The North Gate; officially launched in January of 2009 as  a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.   As the only ministry of its kind in the 29 Palms area, we primarily serve the marines and sailors that live and work not more than one mile from our doorstep.

This website is dedicated to those men and women we serve as well as the friends, family, and supporters of those Christian marines that serve the freedom loving people around the world.

As these courageous young men and women are serving our country, they have an opportunity to gain spiritual strength and direction from  The North Gate; a non-denominational, discipleship-based fellowship.  Led by Ryker and Marchelle Kern, this group grows in their understanding of what it means and what it looks like to lead a victorious Christian life.  

Ryker offers personal mentorship and life direction.  And  is raising up leaders among these mighty men, who will do the same.   Ryker, a licensed and ordained pastor, benefitted and was mentored through both the Navigators and Cadence Int’l (two other worldwide Christian ministries to the military) when he was in the U.S. Army. 

Every week we offer numerous opportunities for fellowship:  Sunday afternoon Bible Study followed by a home-cooked meal (made by Marchelle), and Friday night movies.    But there are also day trips, and weekend “advances” (Marines never “Retreat”) where we have time to bond friendships and share the Word.
